Dell Home or Business Line?
Home systems like the Dimension (desktops) and Inspiron (laptops) lines are less expensive than their business lines which consist of the OptiPlex (desktops) and Latitude (laptops), but there are differences that are worth the investment.
- Business systems are designed for networking and stability.
- The home line takes advantage of best pricing builds during manufacture. This means is that whatever is cheapest that week/day gets put into the unit. The business line uses proven components and therefore is more consistent and stable.
- The support for home users gets routed to lower support routes (India) which use “script” based support. Business users get routed to local support which uses higher levels of support personnel, faster response, quicker resolution and a better customer experience.
- Warranty for the home systems are generally one year versus the business line warranties which are 3 years with next business day on-site.
